Admin of a lot of fediverse servers, among which the .world ones:

  • lemmy.world
  • mastodon.world
  • calckey.world

You can find me on these servers as @ruud

I receive a lot of messages, direct and mentions. I can’t reply to them all. If you have an issue, please e-mail at info@lemmy.world

I run a pixelfed and misskey on the same server, and used to run a mastodon besides that. No issues. (I use docker)

Depends on what sort of invoices. For my invoices for billable hours, I use Kimai

I hadn’t either until a few years ago. It’s something worth considering.

(I’ll add links / descriptions later)

I host the following fediverse stuff:

  • Lemmy (you’re looking at it)
  • Mastodon (3 instances)
  • Calckey oh sorry, now FireFish
  • Pixelfed
  • Misskey
  • Writefreely
  • Funkwhale
  • Akkoma (2 instances)
  • Peertube

And these are other things I host:

  • Kimai2
  • Matrix/Synapse
  • Silver Bullet
  • XWiki (3 instances)
  • Cryptpad (2 instances)
  • Gitea
  • Grafana
  • Hedgedoc
  • Minecraft
  • Nextcloud
  • Nginx Proxy Manager
  • Paperless-ngx
  • TheLounge
  • Vaultwarden
  • Zabbix
  • Zammad

Anything that the family uses. Because when I cease to exist, my wife isn’t gonna take over self-hosting! So e-mail, chat, documents etc.

Ooh… Silverbullet looks really useful!! Just installed, need to figure out what I can do, looks like a lot of functionality!

Oh too bad. I run it at h-y-p-e-r.space, so I’ll just continue to use Synapse for now. Don’t want to add a subdomain

I’m still running Synapse. Could I migrate this to Dendrite or others? Or would I have to just re-install and lose all messages…

Yes, terminology… I mean single instance. And although you can create pg_dumps of separate databases, a true (online) backup of separate databases is difficult. Tools like pgbackrest or barman don’t support it. (I mainly focus on Postgres)

Backup / restore gets complicated if you have multiple apps in 1 dB

Yeah it’s one of the domains I would love to have but GoDaddy has registered a bunch of them, trying to resell for big $$ which I refuse to do.

Yeah I don’t need to be the flagship for everything ;-)

  • Powerful: Organizations & team permissions, CI integration, Code Search, LDAP, OAuth and much more. If you have advanced needs, Forgejo has you covered.

Selfhosters wanna host. But many people don’t. (Ergo: lemmy.world, mastodon.world (GitHub anyone?) so maybe people would like forgejo.world And if not, I’ll use it myself! :-)

#Forgejo v1.19.4-0 was just released! This is a security release.
Anyone running Forgejo? It's I think a fork of Gitea. They are also [implementing federation](https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues/59)
fedilink

Didn’t have time yet to check, still not federating?

What is the instance? I can check the logs.

This is lemmy.world after 4 weeks:

58G	pictrs
34G	postgres

By the way this is Media disk usage for my Mastodon instance, but it’s not really small ;-)

Do you need Mastodon, or can it be something similar? Mastodon does a lot of caching. For my single-user instance I run Akkoma, which is very leight-weight and has all (even more) features Mastodon has.

Just installed Zabbix agent, so data just coming in. Bandwidth usage for Lemmy.world server

Haven’t tried the script but this is awesome work. We need more Lemmy servers!

I used Ampache a lot, years and years ago. But since Spotify hadn’t any need … I prefer collecting my music on vinyl and CD, and use Spotify for music discovery. (And in the car. No record player there yet)

Don’t know about the playlist generation, but I like FunkWhale and it’s federated too!

(And yess, I own the domain funkwhale.world… )

It was an 8 core. But the current server is a 32-core / 64 thread cpu.

I host:

Fedi servers

  • lemmy.world
  • mastodon.world
  • calckey.world
  • pool.social
  • musicworld.social
  • akkoma.nl
  • ruud.social
  • fotofed.nl
  • fediland.nl
  • blog.mastodon.world
  • play-my.video

Software I use

  • Nginx Proxy Manager
  • Portainer
  • Kimai
  • Xwiki (3 of them)
  • Cryptpad
  • Grafana
  • Hedgedoc
  • Matrix/Synapse
  • Thelounge
  • Vaultwarden
  • Gitea
  • Nextcloud
  • Paperless-ngx
  • Zabbix
  • Zammad

Probably forgot some…

I run lemmy.world on a VPS at Hetzner. They are cheap and good. Storage: I now (after 11 days) have 2GB of images and 2GB of database.

These are current graphs for lemmy.world (yet to add it to my Zabbix)

Diskspace:

du -sm *
960	pictrs
1273	postgres

Who wants to moderate SelfHosted community?
lock
Looking for help with moderation, I have my hands full administering this server ;-) Requirements: - Need to have read and agree with the rules (https://mastodon.world/about - Need a little bit of time to keep an eye here

I think there’s a misunderstanding. In the docker-compose.yml, you specify services, and these services can use the official container images. The only thing the docker-compose actually does is define your services so you don’t have to specify them each time starting a container.

I love self-hosting software. Next to this Lemmy server, I host 10 other Fediverse servers. And of course a lot of tools I use for myself or work.
